Privacy Policy

Last updated: July 1, 2026 · Version 2026-07-01

This Privacy Policy explains how Dedup (the “Service”, “we”, “us”) collects, uses, shares, and protects information when you use our Telegram bots (the management bot @dedup_news_bot and the suggestion (“предложка”) bots created through it) and this website. By using the Service you agree to this Policy.

1. Who we are

Dedup is an independent Telegram-based service that helps channel owners turn an incoming stream of reader submissions into ready-to-publish posts by removing duplicates, spam, and unverified claims. The operator responsible for data processing (the “data controller”) can be reached via the contact in Section 13.

2. Who this policy covers

The Service involves two kinds of users, and we process their data differently:

  • Channel owners & moderators — people who create a suggestion bot for their channel and moderate submissions.
  • Contributors — people who send news/tips to a channel’s suggestion bot.

3. Data we collect

From channel owners & moderators

  • Telegram account identifiers: user ID, username, and interface language.
  • Channel information you connect: channel ID and title, and co-moderators you add.
  • Bot tokens you provide (stored encrypted; used only to run your suggestion bot).
  • Subscription and payment records (plan, amount in Telegram Stars, transaction ID, dates).

From contributors

  • The content you submit: text, captions, photos, and videos.
  • Your Telegram user ID and username (so moderators can see who submitted an item and reply to you).
  • Technical derivatives used only for deduplication: numeric text embeddings and perceptual image hashes.

We do not collect your phone number, contacts, precise location, or any Telegram data beyond what is described above.

4. How we use data

  • To operate moderation: deliver submissions to moderators and publish approved posts to the channel.
  • To detect duplicate submissions (via text embeddings and image hashes) so the same news is not processed twice.
  • To run an optional AI fact-check on submitted content when a moderator requests it.
  • To provide analytics to channel owners about their own channel (e.g., counts of submissions and publications).
  • To process subscriptions and prevent abuse (rate limiting, ban lists per channel).

5. AI processing

When a moderator runs a fact-check, the text (and, where relevant, images) of the submission is sent to third-party AI providers to generate an assessment. This processing is used solely to help moderators decide whether to publish. Automated checks are advisory and do not make final publishing decisions on their own — a human moderator does.

6. Third-party processors

We rely on a small number of providers who process data on our behalf:

  • Telegram — the messaging platform the Service runs on, and the payment provider for subscriptions (Telegram Stars).
  • AI providers (Google Gemini, xAI) — for optional fact-checking of submitted content.
  • Hosting infrastructure — servers that run the bot and database, and Cloudflare, which serves this website.

We do not sell your data or share it for advertising.

7. Payments

Paid plans are purchased through Telegram Stars. Payments are handled entirely by Telegram; we never receive or store your card or bank details. We keep a record of the plan, amount, transaction identifier, and dates to provide the service and honor refunds.

8. Data retention

  • Submissions awaiting moderation are removed after they are approved or rejected, together with their related moderation messages.
  • Deduplication records (text embeddings, image hashes, and the submission text) are retained to keep detecting duplicates within a channel; they can be deleted on request.
  • Account, channel, and payment records are kept while your account is active and for as long as required to meet legal and accounting obligations.

9. Your rights

Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have the right to access, correct, delete, or export your personal data, to object to or restrict certain processing, and to withdraw consent. To exercise any of these rights, contact us (see Section 13). You can also stop using a suggestion bot at any time, and channel owners can delete a channel and its bots from the management bot.

Contributors: sending a message to a suggestion bot is voluntary. If you do not want your content processed as described here, please do not submit it.

10. Security

We apply reasonable technical measures to protect data, including encryption of bot tokens at rest and restricted, credentials-based access to our servers. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.

11. Children

The Service is not directed to children under the age required to use Telegram in their country. We do not knowingly collect data from such children.

12. Changes to this policy

We may update this Policy. When we make material changes, we update the “Last updated” date and version above and, where appropriate, ask you to accept the new version in the bot before continuing.

13. Contact

For any privacy request or question, contact the operator on Telegram: @barik766.
